Homeopathy has emerged as an effective way of curing this incurable disease
Aplastic anemia has emerged as a challenge to the global medical world. Though it is not a very common disease but still it is one of the critical diseases; which creates huge problem for patients as well as their families. In developing countries, its treatment is very expensive and complicated. In developed countries like America, where tertiary level health facilities are easily accessible to the public, there has been an increase in the rate of successful treatment of people suffering from this disease, but in other countries, it is still a rare physical condition. And there are a variety of complications in the process of treatment too.
This disease affects the process of blood formation in a person's bone marrow. Due to this, a person suffers from anemia, resulting in a weak immune system. Initially he becomes dull, spiritless and lazy. In the primary phase no one connects these symptoms to a serious disease. From my personal experience, I can say that there is an increase in the number of aplastic anemia cases in India. This is not a good sign because in today's world, aplastic anemia is more dangerous than cancer.
This disease can affect people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. In the beginning, a person suffering from this disease might have dizziness, pain in the legs, weakness, shortness of breath, bleeding from the nose, excessive bleeding during menstruation, or in some cases recurring fever. Its initial symptoms are ordinary symptoms like any other disease, making it hard to detect theroot cause of the problem (Aplastic Anemia) in its initial phase. By the time the disease comes to the fore, the person becomes very weak.
Actually diagnosing this disease is not easy. Signs like weakness, dizziness, anemia, and fever are similar to many other diseases, so usually the patient gets tested for diseases like malaria, dengue, and typhoid. And then even after all these tests, when the disease is not detected and the hemoglobin and the platelets drop drastically, a bone marrow biopsy is done. And this is how the real problem comes to light.
Bone marrow biopsy is an expensive test, which is not easily available in developing countries. Even if aplastic anemia is detected, there are very few treatment options available. In allopathy usually, the patient is treated with bone marrow transplantation. The cost of which comes to Approx INR 20 to 40 lakh.
This amount is huge for both, the middle class and upper middle class of our country. Even if one manages to arrange this amount, the challenges are not over. For bone marrow transplantation, a donor whose bone marrow matches the victim is also needed. In most cases, even the bone marrow of the patient's parents or siblings is not matched. Another option here in allopathic treatment is ATG injection. But this ATG injection costs around 8 to 15 lakh. And its effect usually lasts for 1 to 3 years.
Homeopathy has emerged as an effective way of curing this incurable disease. There are medicines available in homeopathy, which can help in restoring the process of blood formation in the body. In the last 20 years, with the help of homeopathy, we have also treated patients who other doctors had given up on. Homeopathic medicines can be effective in increasing the level of platelets in the blood and controlling blood loss. Once blood loss is controlled, red blood cells start to rebuild. After the production of red blood cells begins, the patient gradually returns to normal life. The potency and combination of the drug are decided after examining the patient's age, level of disease, and other conditions.
Today, Homeopathy has progressed so much that it has turned into a highly developed branch of medical science. It has the potential to treat incurable diseases like aplastic anemia without surgery. Today aplastic anemia is as big a challenge as cancer was three decades ago. Medical science has found various ways to treat cancer. But we lack treatment options in the case of aplastic anemia.
I try to discuss more and more about this disease. I believe that by doing so I will be able to create awareness about this disease. I would like to make three suggestions regarding this disease.
First- There should be a systematic categorization of its data. The number of patients should be categorized geographically. There should be a systematic record of past cases past and newly registered cases. I believe that analyzing this data can help us in understanding the reason for its increasing cases.
Second- Government and non-government organizations should help patients suffering from aplastic anemia, the same way they are helping patients with cancer, AIDS, and TB.
Third- Institutions working in the field of biomedical engineering should try to reduce the cost of bone marrow biopsy tests. If the cost of this test is reduced, it will be of great help to patients suffering from blood-related diseases.
